Kasha Rockmod II Preamp

The place to be when Bob means something more than just, well... Bob.

David Phillips is a god! He just won me a Kasha Rockmod II preamp on ebay for $449.99 in nice condition. Gonna be using that for my L.A.S.D. Huff rack.

Here it is:

Cool !

There were only 2 bidders? Guess no one knew what it was.

I can't seem to get solid info on the NEW Rockmods being as good or better than the old ones.

Does anyone have the recent Preamp he's making now ( last 2 years or so ) ?

Anyway - give us a Tone Report after you play it a bit, let me know if it can hang with a CAE or Fish etc. or even 90% there.

I will once the rig is built.

doc-I am actually moving the UD-Stomp. Gonna go with a Roland SDE-330 Delay, Yamaha SPX-90 with David Phillips presets and hopefully find a Roland SDX-330 for all modulation-having a tough time finding one but a few dibs out there-keeping fingers crossed! Also have a vintage dbx 160X that David found for me on ebay in mint condition for $215! HH VX450 power amp and RJM and L.A.S.D. for the switcher and interface. Gonna mount the sole pedal effect, Demeter Fat Control with Tyler midboost specs, inside the rear side wall of the rack-12 space shock rack with casters. Hoping to go with Pacific Woodworks 1x12's loaded with EV's since the HH power amp I got is about 200 watts a side but should be around 100 a side at 8 or 16 ohms.

I recently purged a bunch of preamps but kept a few. I have a rockmod III with the white face that is probably my favorite preamp. It's purely killer. I have it hooked to an Engl 840/50 and it just slays.

Good luck with it. Kasha builds great stuff.

I see. I'd been talking to Dave about another rig as well. The SPX, PCM70 and 1210 are definitely going in there. Good luck.

Interesting. Mine was 100% stock, totally mint, and I couldn't get $300 for it a few months back..

http://www.rig-talk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=77737

I picked it up in the evening, and had it for sale by the next morning. Not to piss on your picnic even more, but there's probably a halfa dozen preamps available for around $300 that sound better than the Kasha.

That wasn't monopoly money I sent you :)

I'm happy mine has an effects loop which the one on eBay didn't have.

BTW: The one you/David won on eBay has been continually listed for the last two months

I got one and that is all that matters-this rig is a Huff inspired rig and Dan did use the Rockmod 1 in his main rack.

Matt5150-any chance you know of a Roland SDX-330 for me-I really need one ASAP!

There must be a few different versions even with the same faceplate because there are wide variations of people's opinions on this preamp-

Maybe there was a Rockmod 1 ( a , b, c)

And a Rockmod 2 ( a, b, c ) etc.

I was talking to Kasha about the Rockmod 3 a few years back but there were no clips of it on his site, he actually came out with the Brick partly from my suggestions ( don't know him personally , but true ). But I was trying for an output tube to be padded back down to line level and/or folded back into the line signal, sort of like Guytron, and I think Tommy Folkesson does ( I'm NOT a tech ).

I was unable to get much solid info or demos on the Rockmod 3 that he's making now from users or guys on here etc. ( I was hoping it was voiced kind of like the CAE3).

Davenit-so the Rockmod 3 you have is the current version?

not matt, but why not get an RSP550? that does most of what the SDX does and some other stuff. and it's a lot cheaper...they go for about $150 to $200 on ebay when you can find them.

also, bear in mind that a lot of classic huff studio tones were done with your classic mesa/boogie mark-series stuff--mark II's, mark III's, studio preamps, etc. if you want that classic LA studio tone, that's the first place i would look. landau, luke, huff, pierce, dean parks...they all used boogies.
