Blankenship Variplex - PICS!

The place to be when Bob means something more than just, well... Bob.

Postby Ian » Wed Apr 08, 2009 8:00 am

Hey Guys!

I finally took a few pics of my Blankenship Variplex 50 that Dave Friedman modded for me......he added a PPIMV and 2 switches - a subtle gain boost and a "cream" switch.

This amp sounds AMAZING!!

Here's a couple face pics:

Here's a shot of the back panel where Dave added the 2 new switches. One switch is a subtle gain boost, and the other is a "cream" switch that changes the attack a bit.

Enjoy! :)
Which way to the beach???

Looks awesome, still not settled on whether to get a Blankenship or a Naylor SD60 for my Plexi desires....

Sorry for my blatant ignorance but what is a PPIMV?

Naylor is nothing like a Plexi, so go with the Variplex instead.

I wonder how the Blankenship thing is going to work now that Roy works for Diamond. Will he make Blankenship amps under the Diamond badge, or will he make them on the side, or will they be Naked/Racksystems amps and Dave will make them?

Yup. I think he's in Texas and everything. Houston. His e-mail and number are the same though. You should get in touch... the guy is a riot.

Man, I just have a bad feeling that one day the temptation to trade my Soco will be too great. A Variplex would hit the spot. Not crazy about Diamond, though.

Roy will contiune to make Blankenships amps with the Blankenship badge. They will be distributed by Diamond. The design of the amps will be exactly the same.

HA!

I guess I should go pick up my Variplex from Make N, since they don't need help getting in touch anymore. :)
