actually he can and yes he played the drums on billie jean se thats the thing that made mj so crazy. everyone wanted another thriller album. that will only happen once in the history of man kind and its already happened. no other artist including himself will ever do that again. hell his worst selling album was better then half the people we talk about on here.

I've never seen a schematic for the original Bogner Triple Giant. There's a schematic for the Hafler version that is everywhere. I would be very interested in seeing one for the original. If only someone around here had an original and could draw a schematic from it...

I wouldn't call the Hafler Triple Giant's distortion ugly, especially if my name were Satriani. But I think people need to keep in mind this was not a boutique preamp. How many all-tube three-channel MIDI-switchable rackmount preamps can you name that retailed new for under $700? And there's no hybrid op-amp/starved-plate trickery going on here, these are real tube preamp channels. The only preamps I can think of in its price+feature class are the SP-77, the Voodoo Labs Preamp, and the e530, which came later. And the Rockmaster I guess, but if you want to talk ugly distortion, well...

The speculation isn't going to help anyone. We had some conversations about this stuff, and it sounded like he was going to stop taking orders until he had his backstock done... I guess he didn't. This is a guy who, in terms of his products and the class of his work, deserves a lot of respect... but who is just too willing to let his customers twist in the wind, and I don't see how that can be considered acceptable. If he ended up with too many A-List players on his roster and he can't make your shit, he should be able to send you back your money, because if he's spent your money and not made your gear, and has no capital, it IS a damn ponzi scheme.

well-put. if lyle's designs are really that good, he should farm out the building to someone else and just get a licensing fee. clearly, he's lousy at projecting lead times and managing customer expectation. if you wants to make moey and is truly as exceptional as a few claim he is, then the smart money would be to play designer and then farm out the actual building.

having said all that, i will say it again...it's truly, incredibly disappointing that lyle has hidden from everyone, making himself unavailable, unreachable, etc. people are reasonable if you are honest with them. no matter how hard lyle has it, he needs to realize just how hard people have to work to earn that money. i don't care what he needs the money for...it's just wrong to keep giving excuses and consider his own needs above everyone else who worked hard to give him that money.

For some guys dropping $300 on a pedal isn't a big deal, but for some its a huge deal and a big investment...

The community that forms around this high-end gear is not only fairly small (I see a lot of the same posters in the few forums I frequent) but also seems to be pretty cool and willing to help each other out (look at the different fundraisers that have helped out members of the community here) it seems a little communication would have gone a long way....

I guess guitar heroes aren't allowed to have fun? I personally subscribe to the following formula:
Your musicianship should be at least 50% (or more) the level of the musician you choose to criticize...otherwise, go home and practice.
The idea being, if a musician is already at least twice as advanced/developed/experienced as you are currently, they have probably reached a level that transcends criticism. That level is called being an artist. The good news is that if (one day) you are fortunate/talented/skilled enough to become an artist, you'll realize how meaningless criticism truly is.
They were having fun...loosen up a little!

I've got 4 Vintage models in a THD 4x12 that has a port in the back. I also have 4 of the Longhorns in an old Marshall bottom cab that's stock closed-back. Very different sounding speakers, but both are among my favorites of all time.
